Summer and Fall Internship Opportunities at Cropsey Community Farm, New City, NY

Cropsey Community Farm, the first farm project of Rockland Farm Alliance, has internships available for summer 2014 and Fall 2014. To apply, please send a letter of interest and resume to info@rocklandfarm.org

IMG_4642Farm Team Interns will gain experience working on a fully operational organic farm, growing vegetables, herbs and flowers for a 250-member CSA, local farmers markets and restaurants. This intern will gain skills including crop production, irrigation, composting, harvesting, biodynamic farming practices and organic pest management. This is a great opportunity to be a part of a farm model that is expanding local food production in a densely populated suburban area located just north of New York City.

Requirements for Farm Team Intern candidates:

  • Candidates must be matriculated high school, undergraduate or graduate students, able to receive credit hours from institution in exchange for internship. A concentration in the areas of health, food, environmental sciences or policy is strongly desired.
  • Be able to perform physical work outdoors for consecutive hours in various weather conditions including summer heat, humidity and rain
  • lift and carry 25 pounds
  • Work well as a team member, but also be able to work independently, completing tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Pay attention to detail

Candidates should be able to commit 10-15 hours per week or more for a 12-week minimum (hours can be adjusted to align with schedule).
