On Tuesday, April 17 at 4pm at the Cropsey Community Farm in New City, New York, the farm team captured a swarm of bees in the fruit orchard.
The swarm was about 3 feet long, 1 foot around and was found by Arielle Bareket. It was attached to the lower trunk of one of the pruned peach trees at the south end of the orchard near the existing hives.
Attending the birth of the new hive were farm team members Arielle Bareket , Caleb Iosso, Jonathan Ramirez, Amelia Auman and Greg Askildsen with phone support from bee keepers Megan Durney and Jack Daly.
The queen, drones, workers and farm team are resting and doing well.
