This week at the farm: 4/17 – 4/22

Ongoing activities for the entire week that we would LOVE volunteers for:

–Planting onions in the south field.

–Cultivating! Now that we have laid out the irrigation, it is important to get all of the weeds out of the beds so we’re watering the plants, and not the weeds. This involves using a stirrup hoe to quickly go through and just disturb the soil in between plants so the weed seeds are exposed to the sun and die 🙂

–De-rocking beds

More Specifically:

Wednesday: 8am-6pm

–Planting mesclun

–cultivating parsnips, beets, and carrots

Thursday: 8am-6pm

Greenhouse day! We could use A LOT of volunteers for this day

We will be seeding basil: 19 flats

And we will be potting up peppers into bigger flats

Nothing specific planned. Continuing work on projects from earlier in the week.

Saturday: De-rock beds at the farm or join us at Hungry Hollow Co-op to spread the word about RFA and Cropsey at their pre-Earth Day celebration.

HUGE greenhouse seeding day. We will need a ton of volunteers to help with seeding summer squash and cucumbers. We also need help with the perennial/native plants garden cleanup at the Solid Waste Management Authority (that’s where the greenhouse is too). So come on out on Earth Day and help us start our seeds and show our appreciation for the use of the greenhouse at SWMA by cleaning up their garden.

Thanks, and hope to see you at the farm (or the greenhouse)!
