Begin to Meet the Farm Team: Greg Askildsen, Cropsey Farm Manager

There are some new members of the Farm Team this season!  They are a wonderful, hard working, cohesive, talented group and we would like you to get to to know them. Each week or two, a member of the Cropsey Farm CSA Communications Team will profile a new Farm Team member.

Greg Askildsen
Cropsey Farm Manager

Our Head Farmer and Farm Manager, Greg Askildsen, grew up working on his family’s vegetable farm in New Jersey’s Northern Valley. His love and reverence for the land and for good food, combined with the strong work ethic instilled in him by his Polish immigrant grandparents have led him to devote himself to a life of farming. Greg, his wife, Kathy, and their four children, owned a ten-acre organic vegetable farm in Orange County before moving to Rockland in 2010. Since that time, Greg has continued to pursue his passion for farming and increase his knowledge by studying Biodynamics at the Pfeiffer Center in Chestnut Ridge. In addition to helping steer Cropsey Community Farm on its path to sustainability, Greg’s deep experience with operating a small-acreage farm as well as with farmers’ markets continues to help guide RFA in its goals to revitalize a local foodshed in Rockland County.
